Alison

My name is Alison.

I am female, 22 years old, and will complete my bachelor’s degree in computer science this spring.

I work within my department with the Director of Mentoring and Retention. This involves peer-mentoring, researching pedagogical and diversity initiatives (particularly for students with severe impairments), and maintaining order in her absence.

My hobbies include painting, playing video games (in both English and Japanese), and reading. My paintings are abstract in design, and acrylic in medium. Most of the games I play are excessively long RPGs. My favorite authors are Jane Austen, Terry Pratchett, Melanie Rawn, William Shakespeare, and P. G. Wodehouse.

I have three invisible disabilities of varying severity: attention deficit disorder, social anxiety disorder, and chronic episodic migraines. These all affect my brain, reflected in my actions and interactions. I state this now, at the beginning, because these have shaped my perceptions. My openness about it also alters the perceptions of others about me.
